Simply one of the best dress watches ever produced, this Reverso does not stray from classic design as a true "tribute." WHY WE LOVE IT While today seen as simply prime, beach-front real estate for a personal engraving or monogram, the Reverso's convertible case and resulting solid face was originally designed at the request of polo players. The horseback athletes were frustrated with their watches which were regularly damaged during competition. The Reverso was born to relieve this frustration. The ingenious case design flips over to protect the crystal and dial meaning the polo player could wear their wristwatch without risk of damage and simply flip it over to reveal the time post-match. For the 80th anniversary of the Reverso in 2011, Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced the first in what would come to be a core collection of their Reverso lineup, the Tribute. With the ref. 277.8.62 Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Tribute to 1931, the brand finally gave collectors an uninterrupted take on the simple elegance that the Reverso naturally exudes. As an early part of the vintage re-edition trend, the Tribute from 2011 really got it right. From a technical perspective, the watch is fitted with the in-house caliber 822 while the case checks in at 46.6mm lug tip to lug tip, 27.5mm in width, and only 7.4mm thin. In 2021, the Reverso design turns 90 years old, what better way to celebrate than one of the most sought after and best iterations of the watch ever produced by Jaeger-LeCoultre?
