The model on sale here is the SJE073 (international model number) / SARA015 (JDM model number), known among collectors as the “Baby Snowflake” due to its resemblance with the Snowflake dial Grand Seiko. Both model numbers refer to the same watch, (not to mistake with older SARX055 which is thicker, regular edition with older movement, also dubbed Baby Snowflake). Introduced by Seiko at Baselworld 2018 to launch their new caliber 6L35, this movement is thinner than the older 6R, more precise and running at 28,800 alt/hour. Nicknamed Baby Snowflake because of its resemblance with the iconic GRAND SEIKO SNOWFLAKE, it is also finished to the highest standard, using techniques reserved usually only for the luxury Grand Seiko models. For example, the ZARATSU POLISH was used here, an artisan technique of hand polishing that gives the metal a mirror shine without distortions, this way, the metal not only shines like a mirror, but it shines so intensely that looks like glass. It is also protected by a super-hard coating to preserve the watch’s beauty for years to come. The sapphire crystal is also treated with a super-clear coating to ensure complete legibility. Watch boasts an impressive case thickness of only 9.76mm – a reduction of 1.24mm compared to its predecessor. This not only makes the watch more comfortable to wear, but it also enhances the aesthetics, giving it a more elegant vibe on the wrist.
